ANDERSON, Donald Craig "Andy" It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Donald Craig Anderson at his lakefront home on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. "Andy" as he was known to his family and friends was happiest in the outdoors fishing, hunting and enjoying nature. He was a charter member of the "Grumpy Old Men" Syrup and Wood Company and loved being on Lake Mississagagon with the greatest "catch' of his life, Peggy (Senior). Andy proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the Royal Canadian Air Force including a peacekeeping assignment in El Arish, Egypt in 1959. For 31 years, he used his skills as an Air Frame Technician to keep his mates aloft and safe in Trenton Ontario, Gimli Manitoba and Summerside PEI. He played goal in hockey rising to the Junior B level for the Kingston Vics and eventually semi-pro in Scotland. Baseball and golf were also favourite sports. After retiring from the military, Andy and Peggy moved to their retreat at the lake where he enjoyed his boats, ATVs, and snowmobiles until his recent illness. Andy truly loved a party and was always happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Survived by his wife of 62 years Peggy, and children Donna (the late Gary), Susan (Scott), Margaret (Brian) and Stephen (Nellie), grandchildren Matthew (Janice), Sarah (Warren), Craig, Jennifer (Adam), Andrew (Sarah), Kaitlyn (James) and Colton (Courtney) and great grandchildren Hudson, Lumi and Charlotte. Pre-deceased by sister Jean, survived by his brother James (the late Anita).
Andy's family will receive friends at the Milestone Funeral Center, Northbrook on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 1-3pm. The Celebration of Life Service will be in the Chapel at 3pm.
